Tips4Hips Membership program has evolved beyond being just a dance tutorial library — it has flourished into the TIPS4HIPS Academy. It’s a path to mastery in Oriental Dance: presenting an integral and well-structured program, deeper learning of various topics, enhanced consistency and a personalized touch.
Inside the TIPS4HIPS Academy you can find live Zoom classes and workshops, drills and tips, conditioning, technique and choreography classes, lessons of invited artists, exclusive lectures and talks, festival reviews, interviews and much more. Regularly enriched with new lessons, your dance journey here remains exciting and dynamic. Not to mention the extensive dance tutorial library at your disposal.
We will not teach you to be an ideal dancer — we will help you become a unique one.
About the Course
New Season
at TIPS4HIPS
Bil Masry
Autumn is about coming closer to the source — bil masry, in the Egyptian way.
The season grew out of my trips to Cairo, and three artists are joining us to teach it, each bringing not only their knowledge but their own love for Egypt. Maris, one of the most prominent performers in Cairo today. Mariela Sawi, who dances Hakim’s music and speaks the Arabic it is sung in. Memo Sapour, who works with Egyptian folklore.
Julia will be teaching classical oriental, baladi and shaabi.
Along the way we translate the songs. Line by line — what the singer is asking for, who they are talking to, where the joke is. Most of us have danced to these words for years without knowing them. After that, the same music asks for something different from the body.
